What to Bring on an Everglades Airboat Tour
An Everglades airboat tour is an adventurous way to tour the terrain. Those who have never been on an airboat tour may be unsure of what to bring or how to dress. At Everglades Holiday Park, we want to make sure that you are comfortable and ready for your airboat adventure. What should you bring to make the most out of your Everglades airboat tour?
Camera – Your captain will take you up-close to some of Florida’s most unique wildlife. Make sure you don’t miss the opportunity for priceless photo ops. Take some pictures and cherish the memories from your experience.
Comfortable, practical clothing – Keep the high maintenance clothes at home. Remember, an Everglades Airboat tour takes you through the wilderness. Your trip will be both fun and relaxing, so make sure you have loose, comfortable, practical clothing.
Sun protection – South Florida is hot. Even though you are on the water, it is important to protect your eyes and skin. A hat may fly off your head when the boat hits high speeds, so we recommend that you have sunglasses and sunscreen, so you can focus on enjoying your Everglades airboat tour instead of treating a sunburn afterwards.
Polarized sunglasses – There is plenty of marine life to be seen, and polarized glasses make it much easier to spot alligators and fish underneath the surface.
Water- It is never a bad idea to have water on hand. You will want to stay hydrated as you glide across open sawgrass and mangrove forests.
Poncho – Summer in South Florida means rain almost every afternoon. Our tours run rain or shine, so you want to make sure you have a poncho to stay dry.
Sweater or Jacket – South Florida is not sunny every single day. If you take a tour in winter or early spring, you might get cold, especially as the airboat approaches higher speeds and winds. It is always better to have a jacket in case you need one.
Binoculars – This often-forgotten item is one of the most important things to have for your Everglades airboat tour. Since the animals are in their natural habitats, our professional captains must keep a safe distance to ensure they are not being bothered. Don’t worry, you will come right up to some animals such as alligators and birds, but you might have better luck observing other animals through binoculars.
Do not bring: expensive jewelry or clothing that could fly away.
Always bring questions! Our airboat captains have years of experience navigating the Everglades. They know the ins and outs, and they love to share all their knowledge on this subtropical wilderness and its exotic nature. Make sure that you get the most out of your experience by having all of your questions answered about the beautiful Florida Everglades!
