6 Things to Know Before Your Airboat Ride
One of the main reasons people from all over the world stop by Everglades Holiday Park is for our Animal Encounters experience and another reason is to hop on a state-of-the-art airboat and fly across the waters of the Everglades. As an Everglades safari and alligator park dedicated to protecting and educating our visitors on Everglades preservation grounds, Everglades Holiday Park provides the most exciting airboat adventures in south Florida.
Never been on an airboat tour before? Not to worry! Our team of expert captains have decades of airboat experience on their hands, and they’ve decided to share the top 6 things you should know before you embark on an Everglades airboat ride:
1. There’s never a bad time to go.
Don’t worry if you can’t make it down to the Sunshine State during the summer months. Our airboat tours run 365 days a year, rain, or shine. Plus, South Florida’s wintertime isn’t like the winter in the northern states – if anything it’s a little more pleasant outside. Your airboat experience will be different every time, but always fun!
2. You will go fast!
Our state-of-the-art airboats are designed to hit some high speeds on the water, allowing our captains to get you deep into the heart of the Everglades quickly! This brings us to our next point:
3. You are totally safe!
If our captains are going to speed up a bit, they’ll give you plenty of time to make sure you’re holding on tight. Plus, our airboats are maintained to remain in top condition, and our captains are Everglade experts who’ve been cruising around these waters for decades. They know all the best spots to take you, and they always practice safety first! Adults and children of all ages are welcome on our airboats. (Link to article – are airboat rides safe?)
4. It may be a little loud.
Airboats use special engines that can be a little loud, but these allow us to cruise across different kinds of terrain with ease. Everglades Holiday Park offers ear protection for those who prefer it. Once your captain slows down you’ll have the chance to see and hear everything.
5. You will see wildlife.
On your 60-minute journey into the Everglades, you’re likely to come across all kinds of birds, fish, and other animals that call the Everglades home. If you’re lucky, you’ll see an American Alligator swimming near your airboat or sunbathing on the shore. Your guide will point everything out to you. Read about some of the most common animals in the Everglades and learn about them on your tour.
6. You’ll learn a LOT.
If you’re considering a visit to an Everglades safari park type of attraction, then come out to Everglades Holiday Park where one of our expert captains will give you the chance to learn about the history of the Everglades, the animals living in the Everglades, the lay of the land, and our current conservation efforts. Feel free to ask your guide as many questions as you want, and they’ll be sure to share their own Everglades stories and interesting facts!
