EVERGLADES SCHOOL FIELD TRIP – PURE EDUTAINMENT!

An Everglades field trip is a fun and educational activity for kids of all ages. Everglades Holiday Park is located in Fort Lauderdale, making it an easily accessible entry point to explore the largest subtropical habitat in the United States. We have been named one of the top three attractions in the state by readers of USA TODAY and 10Best.com.

Many educators like taking their students on school trips to national parks. While our tours are not in the national park, we border it and provide an incredible glimpse into the wildlife and ecosystems found there.  – Year after year, we have been the top-rated Everglades school field trip in the region.

Bring your students to visit Everglades Holiday Park, and you will be in an outdoor classroom! The Florida Everglades are one of the most educational ecosystems on Earth. There is so much history to learn in our programs. Visitors can learn about the history of the Miccosukee Tribe, who still reside not far from our park, and the complex human culture of the Everglades that can’t be found anywhere else. The Seminole Wars took place in Shark Valley and Big Cypress Preserve; the Everglades have morphed over time, and the grass prairie we explore at our park used to be much more water and swamp. Today’s ‘River of Grass’ used to cover about one-third of the state of Florida.

The Everglades institute a love of learning, and, of course, Science is a big part of that! Our program loves pointing out the amazing animals adapting to thrive here in one of the coolest ecosystems in the world. Children look at alligators as modern-day dinosaurs, and they are simply fascinated by them. Note: Alligators and dinosaurs could be considered family since their ancestors were closely related to one another.

Not all field trips are able to take participants on a journey of learning where kids forget they are ‘in school’ and just want to explore everything surrounding them! This is another reason why our park is such a popular Florida Everglades school field trip. Browse our wide range of programs that are both exciting and informative, ensuring your students will get the most out of their experience – whether they’re enjoying a thrilling Everglades airboat tour or getting up close and personal with a real live gator!

WHY CHOOSE AN EVERGLADES FIELD TRIP?

Wildlife of the Florida Everglades

The Flora: From Mangroves to Sawgrass

Take your student groups on an educational and entertaining field trip visit to the Everglades. The Florida Everglades is a vast, fascinating, and unspoiled resource that we have the privilege of experiencing in our efforts to educate our children during our program. The flora and fauna of this wetland include over 2,000 different varieties of plants, over 20 different types of birds, and hundreds of other unique and interesting animals to learn from. The Everglades itself, technically a slow-moving river, is a fantastic tool for teaching about ecosystems, and it’s all conveniently located in our own South Florida backyard.

Safety and Guide Protocols

Like nearly all natural habitats, the Everglades ecosystem is under threat. Human development and drainage issues have shrunk the South Florida wetlands down to a fraction of their original size. A large portion of the ecosystem is a protected national park, and the Everglades institute park rangers who patrol and protect the vast acreage. National Parks can only do some of the work, though. More must be done to preserve this resource for future generations and not let it just become a part of our history.

At Everglades Holiday Park, we have found that the best way to encourage and influence the future is by educating kids about the importance of the ‘Glades in all our lives through our programs. While shows like Animal Planet’s Gator Boys are an important form of outreach, there’s no substitute for visitors coming to the park itself.
